I was trying to construct some sentences tonight about a stitching project, and I ran across a gap. We have the word "dathim" which I'm using for any kind of needle-and-thread project (embroidery, cross stitch, crewelwork, needlepoint), and "thid" can suffice for thread, floss, pearl cotton, crewel, maybe even yarn? But I don't see a word for fabric, or a word to represent the surface on which needlework is often done. I also don't see a word for a pattern, as in the schematic from which one needleworks or does another craft.
Do you have any suggestions? And along the same lines, could "dathim" be used for knitting (they are called "needles," after all), tatting, crochet, or other free-standing string crafts?
Wil sha,
Zhanáhe
I sent my sentences to Dathimithedeyul and he told me of the word for cloth, od, so that works fine.
