Amazing ESA Dogs Make For Great ESAs - 2021 Guide

Dogs are known for being loyal, affectionate, agile, and intelligent, in their daily lives and around their human companions. Dogs have been kept for various purposes and they have been kept as such dating back to thousands of years. For information, can dogs eat almonds? The answer is no. While they aren't as toxic as naked nuts, it's one of those foods dog companions can't digest as easily as people.

Another important reason a dog is brought into a household is to provide emotional support as an ESA dog. An ESA dog is an emotional support animal that helps their human companions cope with the emotional difficulties that they face. To be an emotional support animal the dog not only needs to be affectionate, loyal but also intelligent around the companion suffering from emotional and mental difficulties or disorders.

In dog diet plan, can dogs eat watermelon? Just like most safe human foods to share with a dog, watermelon should be given sparingly as it contains seeds that can cause a blockage and a rind that may result in gastrointestinal upset such as diarrhea.

Intelligence in dogs can loosely mean their ability to adapt to new situations or circumstances, the ease with which they can be trained, and the level that they are obedient to their companion’s instructions. Different dog breeds are known for their various heightened senses such as the sense of smell and hearing, while others are known for their physical abilities such as mobility and muscle power.

To assist their human companions, the dogs have to have a certain intelligence in feeding off of ques and being always under control and obedient. Such dogs are often a common sight as service animals, therapy dogs, as well as emotional support animals (ESA).

What is an ESA dog?

Before going any further one needs to address what does a dog as an emotional support animal does. The emotional support animal such as a dog or any other pet helps their human companions cope with their mental and emotional problems— PTSD, panic attacks, autism, depression to name a few— and live a normal life.

To have a pet as an emotional support animal, the pet owner needs to be evaluated for his/her condition by a licensed mental health specialist, who then deems whether it’s necessary for the person to have an emotional support animal or not. The permission takes the form of an authorized, stamped, and signed the esa letter for housing that the specialist provides the person with.

ESAs and their companions enjoy various much-needed benefits:

  • They are allowed to travel with their pet animal present with them in the passenger compartment of an airline carrier. They are protected by federal laws and the Air Carrier Access Act of 1986.
  • Under, the pet owners can also have the pet animals in their houses and living spaces overriding the no-pet policies and unlawful pet fees.

Why do ESAs need to be intelligent?

ESAs need to have certain qualities that make them perfect candidates be emotional support animals. The type of pet dog that one adopts or brings home should be chosen according to the lifestyle of the person suffering from a mental or emotional problem. This can be a dog suited for apartment or indoor living, it can be an outdoor dog, or it can be a family dog that behaves well around children and others.

No matter what type of breed that you get to be your esa letter, they need to be intelligent in their adaptability to situations, in judging the emotional condition of the human companion, and in following commands and always being under the control of the human companion.
